Happy Easter! We hope all of you had a wonderful Easter with your friends and families. We took a break from Acts this week and explored the resurrection, which was very fun. We began by showing the kids how the disciples put Jesus in the tomb and felt no hope as Jesus was dead. Then Satan and God had a moment where Satan mocked God and was very excited because he was sure he had won, by killing Jesus. However, of course, on Sunday God came and resurrected Jesus, and then the women came to the tomb and found Him gone! An angel told them how God's power defeats everything, even Satan's ultimate weapon, death.
From this story, we learned that the same power that raised Jesus from the death is the same power that lives within us. This power raises us from our life of being bound to the Flesh (our natural sin nature). It's this power that we can choose to let be in charge of our lives, in each moment, every day. That power then gives us everything we need to live correctly in any situation. That power overcame deah and that power overcomes death, sin and flesh in our lives now.
This week, instead of teaching the children the memory verse, we sent the verse home with them, so they can learn it with their parents. We're looking forward to next Sunday, to see how many children have learned the verse. That verse is: Romans 8:11: “The Spirit of the God who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you.”
