Amelia Jones and the tour group set off for Egypt today and everyone was very excited. As soon as they got there, they went in front of Pharaoh's palace where they stopped in an outer courtyard. Pharaoh wasn't ready to recieve them yet but all of their belongings had to be searched by guards anyway. Mrs. Pennysmith was indignant as her many bags were searched and then taken away. She felt angry because the situation was very unfair and everything she needed was taken away. But Amelia explained that it's her job to take care of everyone and make sure that everyone has what they need. Though what Mrs. Pennysmith needed got taken away, Amelia had more and could always provide for the group.
Sherry explained that this is like us with Jesus. Even when people unfairly take away what we need, Jesus always has more than enough and always takes care of us.
The group finally got into the throne room and watched as Pharaoh stormed around, feeling threatened by the Hebrews. He came up with a plan to enslave them and give them lots of work so that they wouldn't grow as a people. But God simply laughed at Pharaoh and blessed His people anyway and the Israelites grew into a big nation. Pharaoh was furious and ordered the midwives to kill the Hebrew boys when they helped deliver them, but these midwives knew God and lied to Pharaoh to protect the babies. Israel kept on growing. Finally, Pharaoh ordered that all the male babies be killed, to show that he was the supreme ruler of all. But God still laughed at tiny Pharaoh and told Pharaoh that this meant a war between him and God.
Sherry and Amlelia explained that while the situation was very unfair, God still cared for His people. Despite everything that Pharaoh did, God was still able to bless His people and grow them into a large nation, just as He promised He would. God's plans will always succeed, no matter how much opposition there is.
