This week, Amelia and the tour group were going through Pharaoh’s city. Amelia made sure everyone knew to stay close to her and not wander away, because it was not safe for anyone to be out on their own. Matt Pennysmith got very upset with his mother and, along with Sarah the scared tourist, snuck away from the group. They didn’t want to be a part of the group anymore and were going to go home. But a group of bandits caught them and decided to hold them for ransom.
Mrs. Pennysmith discovered that Matt was missing and Amelia realized that Sarah was missing too. Amelia asked for professor Felix’s help and he said that clearly Matt and Sarah didn’t want to be a part of the group anymore, so they should be left alone. But Amelia disagreed, reminding him that she had made a promise to everyone in the group to take care of them and get them home safely. She was not letting go of Matt and Sarah. So, after some investigating, Amelia and Felix found the bandits and negotiated a trade.
Matt, however, was still very angry with his mother and yelled at her, saying that he didn’t want to be her son anymore. He was determined to find a way to stop being her son, but Amelia and Sherry explained that this was impossible. No matter what he did, Matt would always be Mrs. Pennysmith’s son. And Sherry explained that this is just like us and God. As soon as we become Christians, there is absolutely nothing we can do to stop being God’s kids. We can stop talking to Him, have nothing to do with him but we will still always be His kids. God will always love us because us being Christians is not dependant on what we do.
The group then saw Moses talking to God. Moses was very angry because he had done what he was told but things only got worse, not better. He yelled and blamed God but God didn’t give up on Moses or get upset back. He reassured Moses that He knew what He was doing and that Moses just had to trust Him. Moses finally calmed down and agreed to go back to Pharaoh.
The tour group learned a new memory verse, John 10:28: “I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.”
