Jacob and his household were nearly back to where Esau lives. Jacob sent a servant ahead of them to bring Esau some gifts and the servant came back in a panic, saying that Esau was on his way with an army. Jacob, still not trusting God, came up with a plan where the servants would be in the front, the family in the middle and Jacob, Rachel and Joseph would be in the back, ready to run.
That night, Jacob couldn't sleep, and God met with Him. Jacob demanded that God bless him and protect him, as He had promised. God asked Jacob if he trusted Him. Jacob kept insisting that God bless him and the two of them wrestled. Finally, God said He would bless Jacob, and God touched Jacob's hip, crippling him. Now Jacob couldn't run away and would have to trust and rely on God. God blessed Jacob by making him weak.
The next day, Jacob was now at the front, instead of the back. He was now trusting God. Esau and his army met with Jacob and Esau ended up being very happy to see Jacob. They had a touching reunion and Esau invited Jacob and his household to come home with him. In Jacob's weakness, God's strength was seen.
