We started the morning by blindfolding Taya and having her walk across the room, able to do so only by listening to instructions of someone who could see. The kids quickly figured out that this was a picture of faith; faith in God means knowing that He is in control and has a plan, and He will make His plan happen. Sometimes what God does or asks us to do doesn't make sense to us, but faith means trusting Him anyway.
The Bible story introduced Abram and his wife Sarai. God introduced Himself to Abram, then told Abram all about His plan: to show the whole world who He is. God chooses to use Abram to be the begining of this plan. He would create a nation through Abram. He would bless Abram, take care of him and as this happens, other people around him would see what God is doing, and realize God is the one true God. But the first step of this plan was for Abram to pack up, with Sarai, leave his family go to a land God would show him.
Abram had faith because while he didn't know God very well, he trusted Him and packed up and left. However, Abram didn't just take Sarai; he took his nephew Lot and a lot of servants along as well. He wasn't fully trusting God to take care of him, and later on we'll see how this caused problems, and how God dealt with it.
