We started the morning by reviewing last week. A few kids were able to say the memory verse, though we're hoping for even more next week. After two songs, Sherry did an object lesson with Fidget, one of our cats. She showed the kids all the things that Fidget needs; food, water, claw trimmers and a litter box. Fidget belongs to us, and so it's our job to take care of her. Just like Fidget, we belong to God and it's his job to take care of us.
The Bible story started with God showing Adam the garden of Eden. God made Adam and it's his job to take care of Adam and make sure Adam has everything he needs. So God made a place for Adam to live, and provided food, water and shade. God gave Adam a job; naming the animals and taking care of them. After Adam had done this, Adam went to sleep and God saw that Adam needed a friend and helper. So he took one of Adam's ribs out and used it to make Eve. Adam and Eve were quite happy to meet each other and everyone went to explore the garden.
Pip the cougar and Tina the rabbit came on the stage next. Pip was showing Tina his new car, which he got for his birthday. Tina mentioned that it already needed to be repainted and the tires were getting flat. Pip didn't want to do those things because that was too much work. Tina didn't think that was right and the two started to argue, so Sherry interupted. She explained that the car belongs to Pip and so it's his job to take care of it. This is just like God and the people. They belong to God and so it's his job to take care of them.
Our artist worked quite a bit this past week and the walls are looking more colorful. We're quite excited for the entire main room to be done. Have a great week seeing God at work!
