We have left behind the Israelites for a few weeks, as they travel towards the Red Sea and are visiting the Kingdom of Serving Hearts. In this kingdom, there is a king and his son and they love each other very much. They are not like usual royalty, expecting to be served and pampered, but instead love to serve each other and their subjects. The King and His son loved to go to the village and help the people with whatever work they were doing. When someone got sick, the King and His son would stay up with them all night until the person got better. Because the King and His son had serving hearts, so did the people of the kingdom. Everyone thought of others and they shared everything.
Now there was a knight named Sir Jeffery the 3rd who used to be a part of the kingdom, but he was very selfish and evil. He liked to scare the villagers and one day, he kidnapped two of them. The King heard about this and though He didn't want to be seperated from His son, He loved His people so much and sent His son to go get them back. The Son was sad to leave His father but also loved the people very much. The Son faced many horrible monsters and finally found Sir Jeffery the 3rd. He offered to take the place of the villagers and the villagers got to go free. The Son was treated horribly but finally, the sentence was over and the son came back to the King.
Serving is something that should naturally pour out of us, if we are right with God. God has the heart of a servant, and He lives in us. Serving comes out of love, not because it's something we need to do to "be good Christians".
We then introduced a memory verse challenge to the kids. As families, the kids need to memorize Philipains 2:3-8 by the end of January. They can't say it on their own; they have to say it all together with their siblings, which will mean they have to think of each other and work together. For any family that can say the full passage there will be family passes available for a fun destination of your choice.
