A lot has been happening in the children’s ministry these last few months! We finished Genesis and have moved on to Acts, and currently we are a week behind the rest of the church. This has actually been quite useful, as the youth already know the material they’re going to be teaching and parents know in advance what to talk about with their children.
The book of Acts has already shown us some amazing things that God did in the early church. The children have learned about being content in Jesus during difficult times, how to let Jesus be in charge and that our lives are about Jesus and not ourselves. We have had some good discussions with the children and they are clearly connecting the lessons to their own lives, which is very cool to see.
A few weeks ago, we also had a VBS camp in the first week of Spring Break. The theme of the week was Faith, learning different aspects of it. Our skits followed a group of adventurers who were looking for the City of God. Along the way, they met twins Faith and Faith, who showed them that the only way to get into the City of God was with their help. The skits turned a potentially tricky theme into an easy concept for the children to grasp.
The volunteer team during that week also grew in leaps and bounds. Several challenges taught many of our team members to lean on God even more and we saw God show up in big ways, which was very exciting. With nearly a hundred kids present, there was always something going on but God led and enabled our team in amazing ways. We look forward to more exciting discussions and learning moments as we continue to explore Acts. Have a wonderful week!
